You know when the new year starts and everyone is talking about their resolutions and what the year holds for them? To me, moving from one year to the next is like moving from third to fourth grade — no graduation ceremony (or giant party in NYC) needed. I don’t get caught up in the excitement and laugh at those who do.
But, now that it’s February and the glow of 2016 is wearing off, I’ve finally started to reflect. 2016 is going to be big after all.
I’m turning 21 in June and can finally go out with my 26-year-old fiance!
I’m running my first full marathon in October and will be training for it all summer.
I’m graduating college in December and for the first time, I won’t be a student.
I’m getting married on the last day of 2016.
Basically, life is changing big time.
Packing all of these firsts into one year is amazingly scary and exciting. 2016 will be the year that ushers me into adulthood, so it’s time to embrace the new year excitement, especially because my wedding anniversary will be falling on New Year’s Eve. In fact, I chose that date because I finally wanted a reason to like New Year’s Eve!
On Dec. 31, 2016, I’ll be popping champagne, saying “I do,” and looking ahead to a new life. I’ll be excited for the adventure of 2017: moving to Colorado. I guess I’m ready to become one of “those people” who loves celebrating the end of one year and the start of another.
What does 2016 have in store for you?
