Studying with a scenery change

Sometimes I’m sitting in my apartment, staring at a computer screen, and I realize that I just can’t take it anymore!

GET ME OUT OF THIS PLACE!

As much as I’d love to leave — and leave my work behind, too — the work is on a deadline and putting it off won’t help me in the long run. But for a change of scenery, I love to head to Starbucks with my schoolbag and laptop in tow.

It gives me a reason to change out of an oversized T-shirt and sleep shorts; it gives me a reason to see unfamiliar faces and listen to new conversations. And the best part, it gives me a reason to sip a non-fat latte.

A quiet apartment can get to be too quiet, and I need some type of distraction to pull me out of writer’s block or an information overload. Sometimes I just need distractions to keep me awake — have you tried staying awake while studying about earthquakes and volcanoes?!

So the next time you’re in a rut and need a break, try heading to a nearby coffee shop. You’ll be amazed at what a change of scenery can do for your mood and motivation.

I’m currently writing this at Starbucks because the walls of apartment were closing in on me, and I had no idea what to write about for my blog post.

It’s funny where inspiration can come from.
